China Spring Restaurant, located at 126 General Puller Hwy in Saluda, VA, has carved a niche as a beloved destination for Chinese cuisine. Despite its humble setup with limited seating, it shines as a takeout gem, drawing local patrons for its authentic flavors without the greasy residue typical of many takeout spots. Customers rave about their stellar offerings, such as the Cashew Chicken and Mongolian Beef, noting that the dishes are fresh and well-prepared.
Rene Creasy describes it as a great little place for takeout, while Em highlights the unfair ratings that barely capture the quality of food served here. Family-owned, as mentioned by Amy Jones, the restaurant prides itself on authentic dishes that resonate with many diners. Tracy Porter’s experience with the Gen Tso and Egg Foo Young reflects a commitment to freshness that rivals neighboring establishments.
Amidst the strip mall setting, China Spring offers a refreshing escape for anyone craving delicious Chinese food, supported by compliments on their service. With a culture rooted in quality and taste, it’s no wonder why this restaurant continues to delight diners, making it worth the visit for both locals and those willing to drive a little for an authentic experience.

They are only equipped with a couple of tables but it is certainly a great little Chinese restaurant for takeout. (No delivery)

The rating on this place is not a fair reflection on the food, in my opinion. Many of the reviews are very outdated. We’ve tried it twice now and the food has been really good. Cashew chicken, Mongolian beef, sesame chicken, sesame shrimp, Hunan chicken, beef with mushrooms... all good. Didn’t love the hot and sour soup but everything else totally hits the spot and is fresh. It’s strip mall Chinese food so the people looking for a fine dining experience are barking up the wrong tree. But the food is very good and we’ll keep eating here. It’s also very refreshing to eat Chinese food that doesn’t leave a film of oil on your mouth and on your lips.

We were very surprised at how much better our Gen Tso and shrimp Egg Foo Young looked and tasted compared to the same we normally get at Tops China in West Point. The ingredients looked and tasted more fresh and the Egg Foo Young here was not covered in dark old cooking oil. My wife and I both said that it’s worth the 20 minute drive to come here than to go to Top China in West Point.

The family that owns this little restaurant is absolutely amazing! Our family gets take-out from China Spring frequently, and we're never disappointed. I highly recommend giving them a try if you're in the mood for some fast Chinese food.

Great food, I noticed many old reviews so I want to clarify, there is no plastic hotbox, and the space is very open. Covid hit hard but now they are better than before in my opinion
